Yankee Doodle is a well known American rhyme, dating back to before the Seven Years’ War and even the American Revolution. 
The lyrics and tune are marked in the Roud Folk Song Index under the number 4501. 

The Macaroni was a wig type and an extreme fashion in the late18th century, eventually becoming slang for being a fop. Dandies were men focused on their physical appearance, refining their language and having leisure hobbies, with a self-made one meaning a middle-class man impersonating the aristocratic lifestyle of the time.
